Total English & Grammar Book - Correspondence

As promised, I've included a Word file which contains the correspondence between the lessons found in the book we're using in class, "Total English Intermediate", and the grammar book "Grammar for First Certificate", which contains extra exercises to be practised on your own.

This is the Word file with the information. Remember that you should do the activities from the Grammar book as we progress with the course. After doing the exercises you can check your answers yourselves using the key.

Multilingual Silent Night

Noche de Paz

[ITALIANO]

Astro del ciel, Pargol divin,
Mite Agnello Redentor!
Tu che i Vati da lungi sognar,
Tu che angeliche voci nunziar,
Luce dona alle genti
Pace infondi nei cuor!

[FRANCES]

Douce nuit, sainte nuit,
Tout s'endort à minuit
Mais dans le ciel sans voile
Apparut une étoile
Pour guider les bergers
Jusqu'à l'enfant qui est né.

[INGLES]

Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright,
Round yon virgin mother and child,
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
sleep in heavenly peace.

[ALEMAN]

Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht!
Alles schläft; einsam wacht
Nur das traute heilige Paar.
Holder Knab im lockigen Haar,
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!

[ESPAÑOL]

Noche de paz, noche de amor
Ha nacido el niño Dios
en un humilde portal de Belén
sueña un futuro de amor y de fe
viene a traernos la paz
viene atraernos la paz...

Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw it
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names
they never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then how the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee
"Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
you'll go down in history."

You know Dasher and Dancer
and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid
and Donder and Blitzen,
but do you recall the most
famous reindeer of all?

Unit 3. Crossword - Home

I've included another extra activity for Unit 3 in the blog. It is a bit more entertaining than the previous one. It is a crossword that you must complete with suitable terms related to home.

Most of these words have been taken from the previous exercise.

Have fun :)

Unit 3. Vocabulary - Home

Hi,

This is an optional, but highly recommended activity to revise some vocabulary connected to home. You can read this letter and look up any words you do not understand, specially those in bold.

Also, there are some exercises that you can do and hand in after Christmas.

I am aware that the vocabulary may be a little difficult, but just try to memorize as many words as you can. Good luck!

Year 3 Extra stuff: Linking words

    Hi everyone,

I've uploaded a Word document on 'Linking Words'. In case you still don't know what a linking word is, these are words that are used to connect sentences or ideas. The right use of linking words will make your composition look brighter and richer, as a good composition is not only about good grammar and vocabulary, but it also must be coherent and suitably linked.

Since this document results very handy in order to carry out any writing tasks suggested by your teacher, I strongly recommend that you download this guide and use as many linking words as you can in every composition that you write from now on.

Finally, you can download the file just by clicking on here.

    * Can you identify what type of words the ones in bold are? :)
